Larken Associates Director of Design Jillian Dorell Named to Somerset County Business Partnership’s 40 Under 40 List
Larken Associates, a regional leader in real estate building, development and management, announces that Director of Design Jillian Dorell has been selected to the Somerset County Business Partnership (SCBP) 2023 40 Under 40 list. Dorell was recognized at the Somerset County Business Partnership’s 2023 Annual Meeting held at The Palace at Somerset Park on December 11th.
The SCBP’s 40 Under 40 program recognizes businesspeople, professionals, entrepreneurs, elected officials and community leaders whose successes and demonstrations of strong leadership have gone above and beyond within their jobs, families and community organizations. Award winners are selected based on their commitment to business growth and development, professional excellence, leadership, achievements and community service across Somerset County.

Since joining Larken Associates in 2015, Dorell has firmly established herself as one of the construction and design industry’s fastest-rising stars. As Director of Design, Dorell has created and continues to refine an aesthetic and design standard for the company’s diverse portfolio consisting of nearly four million square feet of commercial space and approximately 2,500 owned and managed residences across 19 unique communities. Dorell's meticulous attention to detail and her embrace of the latest design trends, materials and technologies ensure that Larken Associates' properties are at the forefront of innovation and stand out in their respective local markets.
Dorell has also been instrumental in expanding the company's design capabilities and resources by forging relationships with manufacturers and external professionals. This has positioned her as an influential figure in the regional design and construction community.
Dorell's impact extends beyond the boundaries of her professional responsibilities. She has actively participated in Larken Associates' partnership with From Houses to Homes, an organization based in Guatemala that focuses on providing sustainable housing, healthcare and education to impoverished indigenous communities. Dorell has personally traveled to Guatemala twice, most recently leading a team of Larken Associates volunteers in constructing homes and delivering essential supplies and food to families in need in 2022.
In an industry where just over ten percent of employees are female, Dorell has also served as a powerful role model for her fellow female employees at Larken Associates, as well as those looking to begin or grow their careers in construction.
